Testing at a glance

Four tiers. The monthly check is yours; the annual duration test is the one that gets missed.

  1. Monthly Your staff

    Functional test

A 30-second test of each emergency light and illuminated exit sign to confirm it energises. No certification needed — building staff can do this.

  2. Annual Certified tech

    Duration test

A full 90-minute discharge test confirming each unit stays lit for the whole period, with a written record of the result.

  3. As needed Certified tech

    Repair & battery

Units that fail either test are repaired or have batteries replaced, then retested to confirm the fix.

  4. End of life Certified tech

    Replacement

Fixtures and signs beyond economical repair are replaced, and coverage is rechecked against the egress route.

Intervals summarise NFPA 101 / Life Safety Code as commonly applied. Your authority having jurisdiction may require more. Call and we will confirm what applies to your property.

How it works

Three steps, no runaround

  1. 01 Call or send the details Property type, rough fixture count, and what prompted the call. That's usually all we need to schedule.
  2. 02 We confirm scope and schedule You get a clear answer on what's required, what it costs, and when we'll be there — before we roll a truck.
  3. 03 We test, fix, and document Work is done on site, failures are dealt with, and you get records you can hand to a fire marshal or insurer.

Questions we get

Before you call

The things property managers ask most often, answered plainly.

A 30-second functional test every month, which your own staff can carry out, and a full 90-minute duration test once a year. Records of both should be kept and produced on request.

Tell us the property and the unit count

That is usually all we need to tell you what is required, what it costs, and when we can be there.
